Jan 28: Contact Mic building Workshop with the Reverend Crank Sturgeon

Jan 28: Performance artist Crank Sturgeon joins up with Mayo Street Arts for an afternoon session on building contact microphones! Similar to a stethoscope, a contact microphone is designed for picking up sound vibrations, and is used for amplifying acoustic instruments, environments, and objects. Crank will discuss safe and proper soldering techniques, materials, and the countless applications where these microphones can be used. Participants will be guided through all the steps of construction and have their very own microphone to take home! This workshop is open to all levels of experience. Fee $12-$20 sliding scale. Limited to twenty people.
