Zemya is nine women singing a blend of beautiful and edgy harmonies without accompaniment.
They share folk and traditional songs from the Balkans, United Kingdom, Africa, the Americas and more… and they have fun doing it! Zemya means “earth” in Bulgarian, and these songs grow from the deep soul of the world’s folk music heritage.
The women of Zemya are: Deborah Gordon (Director), Joy Ahrens, Barbara Beckelman, Caroline Hyde, Abby King, Ailish Kress, Constanza Ontaneda, Ann Swardlick and Sue West
