Tuesday August 7: East Bayside’s National Night Out  – Neighborhood Parade & Bock Party

For one night, neighbors in East Bayside are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, and come out for a Parade and Block Party to promote neighborhood art, safety, and fun. Parade Line-Up at Mayo Street Arts at 10 Mayo Street at 5:30 pm. Parade attractions include Nessie the Sea Dragon, puppets by the Children’s Puppet Workshop, MECA, local nonprofit organizations, and assorted neighborhood youth groups.

Parade thru East Bayside starts at 6:00pm at Mayo Street Arts. Come to MSa at 5:30 to be in the parade – marchers/musicians/puppet carriers needed! FREE BBQ at Peppermint Park on Cumberland Ave to follow with live music by Maine Marimba Ensemble, a display of specialty police and fire vehicles, and kid’s activities and prizes. Guest speakers including Mayor Michael Brennan will round out the evening.

The neighborhood celebration is a collaboration between Target, Portland Police, Mayo Street Arts, Portland Housing Authority, East Bayside Neighborhood Organization, Casey Family Services, Community Partnerships for Protecting Children, The Root Cellar, and MaineStay.
