The St. Petersburg Men’s Ensemble performs a repertoire encompassing various styles – from ancient Russian chants and chorals of Western European to modern music. Their program includes Russian folk songs, secular and ecclesiastic compositions, as well as modern composers and transpositions of popular melodies. The SPME presents examples of Russian sacred music, starting from ancient songs of the Orthodox Church to works of little-known, but remarkable composers of the XVIII-XX centuries, as well as famous masters – D. Bortnjansky, P. Tchaikovsky, P. Tchesnokov, A. Gretchaninov, S. Rachmaninov, I. Stravinsky and others.
The ensemble is Kirill Sokolov, Vadim Smantser, Sergey Shapinskiy, and Andrei Volikov.
