June 29 – August 15: Nor’eastern Dreamers – Three Kite Makers from Bug Light

Students will tour MSA’s exhibit of three local kite makers July 10 – 13.  Artists Joel Eckhaus, Tony Otis, and Tony Heeschen will guide children in kite making and flying.

Exhibit runs June 29 – August 15, Opening Reception June 29 from 6-8pm.

July 17-18: Shoestring Theater – Peter Pan

Shoestring Theater returns with their hilarious children’s (and adult) puppet show that promises to be “huge , really huge. Really big trust me – because i said so.” Don’t expect a sappy story of childhood adventures, there’s a new world order and Neverland is part of it! Tigerlily’s grown into Tiger Mom and if our Governor has his way the Lost Boys will be heading back down the highway, bye-bye Shifty.

August 1, 5:30-8pm: National Night Out

National Night Out occurs in neighborhoods across the country on the summer evening of August 1. NNO is all about taking back our streets and public parks for a fun multicultural gathering that celebrates neighbors, the outdoors, and our community! Meet and mingle with neighbors, listen to live music, and celebrate the cool vibrant place that is East Bayside.

It all starts with a parade from Mayo Street Arts at 6:00pm, winding through Kennedy Park and East Bayside to Fox Field for a free BBQ, performances by youth and local musicians, including Port City Rockers (Boys and Girls Club), Club Hip Hop (Mayo Street Arts), and more.

August 7-8: Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers – Everybody Loves Pirates

Tuesday, August 8 at 2pm Open to the Public

Eight-year-old Lucy and her goofy pal Little Chucky are searching for buried treasure, but a gang of bumbling pirates keeps getting in the way!  The kids get some help from their new ocean-dwelling friends, including enthusiastic superhero Lobster Boy, his reluctant sidekick Crabby, and an overgrown sea monkey.
