Mission & Background

Mayo Street Arts strives to strengthen its neighborhood and community by providing a haven for the arts that is vibrant, safe, and inspiring; and to engage area youths of diverse cultural communities in robust participation in the visual, performing, and literary arts.

Mayo Street Arts (MSA) is a unique performance venue, exhibit and art space, and community center for the international and creative communities of Portland.

MSA presents over 150 events each year including international and world music, theatrical performances and puppet theater shows, jazz, bluegrass, and rock concerts.

Our organization also plays an important role in the International communities of East Bayside and Greater Portland by providing quality after school and summer literacy and arts programs for children of need.

In 2013 MSA purchased its building – an historic Danish church – and has since completed many facility improvements including a new roof, renovations to the performance space, and restoration of the original choir loft.

MSA is now working to grow our Programs for Community and Youth, and to make the building and performance space ADA compliant to ensure accessibility to all.
