Youth Summer Programming is Taking Root!
Posted On June 28, 2021
We’re excited to announce that Mayo Street Arts is partnering with The Root Cellar to offer youth art programming with their RC Summer Camp!
Over the next 5 weeks, more than 30 kids will gather each day at The Root Cellar for an exciting day camp filled with community art activities, character building activities, and fun group learning activities like dance, science, sports, juggling, baking, and more!
In addition to the Root Cellar’s regular staff, the RC Summer Camp has 7 neighborhood teens serving as Teen Mentors. These teen positions are integral to the camp’s success as they provide youth leadership as role models in the community. The Root Cellar is also privileged to be working with the East End Community School and several community partners to provide a safe, fun, enriching opportunity this summer for these amazing kids.
Mayo Street Arts is thrilled to be able to offer artistic enrichment in the forms of puppetry, drumming, dance, improv, stitching, and literary programming for this fantastic camp. Summer youth programming is a cornerstone of MSA’s community building, and it deeply saddened us to have to pause that program for another year as we make preparations to reopen. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to work with the RC Summer Camp engage with our local youth in creative pursuits!
