Bread & Puppet returns to Fort Allen Park in Portland with a brand new performance in the tradition of the iconic Bread & Puppet Circuses that began at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont in 1970.
As usual, the show will draw on traditional circus tropes and B&P’s world-famous folk iconography to draw attention to the urgent issues of the day. Stilt dancers, paper maché beasts of all sizes, and B&P’s Fight-Against-The-End-Of-The-World Brass Band contribute their riotous inspiration to this colorful spectacle of protest and celebration.
After the show, B&P’s will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli, and B&P’s “Cheap Art” – books, posters, postcards, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale.
This free outdoor performance will take place at Fort Allen Park on Portland’s Eastern Promenade on Sunday, September 5 at 4:00 PM
