ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
ELIZABETH LAU has been eagerly involved with Portland Youth Dance as a Board Member, Director of Dynamix, and Choreographer since 2007. While attending George Washington University, where she received a degree in marketing and dance, she developed a love for hip-hop dance while taking classes with Culture Shock DC and at The Joy of Motion Dance Center. Elizabeth currently teaches hip-hop, jazz, tap, and modern at Casco Bay Movers in Portland, Maine. She’s proud to have worked with Slim Peace and be a part of Maine Girls, a documentary about immigrant and US born teens that come together to find a common ground through dance, food, and a healthy lifestyle. Her personal mission is to contribute to the community by sharing her passion for dance with all those who desire to express themselves through the art form.
VEEVA BANGA is a South Sudanese dancer. Since the age of twelve dancing hip hop every Friday, she has honed a passion for sharing her cultural dance with people locally. She is a talented dancer that has an opportunity to play with a mix of styles in Afro Beat that can offer a different approach to dance in Maine. A Message from Portland Public Schools: Those in the PPS community who aren’t vaccinated or haven’t received boosters are urged to get their shot. COVID vaccines are available to students at our school-based clinics at Casco Bay, Deering and Portland high schools and King Middle School. Here’s a link to find vaccination sites in Maine. That site also contains information about booster shots.
