We are currently hiring a Community Outreach staff member and a Program Manager!

We encourage applicants of all experience backgrounds to apply. MSA staff conduct regular business in English, however many of our neighbors in East Bayside are non-native English speakers. Special consideration will be given to individuals with proficiency in other languages, especially French, Portuguese, Arabic, and Lingala.

Community Outreach

The MSA Community Outreach staff member is a highly-visible ambassador of Mayo Street Arts, responsible for building and maintaining relationships with other individuals and organizations. During the course of regular conversations with individuals in the East Bayside community, the Community Outreach staff member identifies unserved areas of programming interest and barriers to access. They will then work directly with the Executive Director to explore means of addressing the concerns and needs expressed during these conversations.

They will also support the pilot year of a Traditional Arts Network designed to provide networking, professional development, and marketing support to Rwandan, Congolese, Burundian, Somali, and Somali-Bantu immigrant artists in Portland and Lewiston/Auburn.

Hours & Compensation:

  • Hourly Wage: $22
  • 13 hours per week. Schedule is flexible, although a portion of it will need to coincide with third-party events and gatherings, including some weekends and evenings.
  • MacBook laptop will be provided
  • Travel to various communities in Maine will be required. The Community Outreach staff member will be responsible for providing their own transportation, for which they will be reimbursed at the IRS’ standard mileage rate.

Program Manager

The MSA Program Manager books, coordinates, and manages MSA’s visual and performing arts programs, youth programs, and events. The Program Manager works with the Executive Director to envision and plan the yearly
calendar of art, music, dance, puppetry, and youth programs, then executes the plan accordingly.

MSA’s events and programs should fulfill the MSA mission and spirit of creativity, with an eye towards audience engagement, community engagement, donor engagement, and program revenue. The Program Manager is present at most of MSA’s visual and performing arts events and youth events, and must be comfortable leading teams of staff, volunteers, and artists.

Hours & Compensation:

  • Annual Salary: $40,000 plus benefits
  • 35 hours per week. Some work may be done remotely. Evenings and weekends are required.

  • Benefits:
    • 6 paid holidays plus generous PTO (starting at 25 days per year)
    • Healthy Living Stipend (8% of base wages)
