A Letter from MSA’s Executive Director

Dear Friends of MSA,
It’s an exciting time here at Mayo Street Arts, as we approach the end of our first season since resuming in-person events and look ahead to our summer plans.
This spring, our focus has been on expanding the Community & Youth programming offered to residents here in East Bayside. Along with the return of Club Hip Hop, we’ve quadrupled our after school offerings, and have introduced clubs for visual art, circus arts, and drumming.
During our visits to East End Community School this past year—presenting performances and workshops with internationally acclaimed artists—we’ve heard countless students exclaim, “Oh yeah…I’ve been to Mayo Street Arts!”
Now that we have regular programming for neighborhood families, we gleefully reply, “Well come on down. We’re back!”
To facilitate these free, no cost opportunities for engagement in the arts, build relationships with the community we serve, and prepare to resume arts based literacy initiatives through our free RAD! summer youth program, MSA has expanded our Community Outreach work to a full time position.
The Community Outreach Manager now oversees all of this wonderful youth programming, develops events to help local artists to engage their community, supports our local network of puppeteers, and coordinates MSA’s Traditional Arts Network in support of immigrant artists.
This work—which is at the core of our organization—is only possible through financial contributions from foundations and MSA lovers such as yourself. You are the reason we can put time and attention into keeping MSA a human-scale arts center and eradicate financial barriers that may otherwise prevent our neighbors and community members from participating.
