ABOUT CLUB DRUM

Wednesdays 2:30 – 3:30 PM • Open to students in grades 7-12

Play Djembe & the traditional Doundoun family of drums with Namory Keita, straight from the village of Sangbarala, Guinea. Namory has been playing the drum since the age of 7 and has taught and performed around the world. His infectious joy for drumming and teaching will inspire you!

A permission form signed by a parent/guardian is REQUIRED for your child to attend Club MSA programs.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

NAMORY KEITA is the Musical Director and lead drummer of New Moon Ensemble and performs regularly with Akwaaba Ensemble, sharing music, dance, and culture of West Africa. He teaches weekly drum classes, offers private lessons for all ages and accompanies dance classes at Embody the Rhythm and Seacoast West African Dance & Drum. COVID-19 Policy

In accordance with Portland Public School policy, all students attending Arts After School programs are required to wear a mask at all times.

For the safety of our staff, teachers, and students, any student that exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent home.

A Message from Portland Public Schools: Those in the PPS community who aren’t vaccinated or haven’t received boosters are urged to get their shot.
