Year End 2023 Campaign!

Ian Bannon, MSA Executive Director

November 2023

Our 2023-24 season is off to a wonderful start with a killer lineup of puppet shows, international music, and showcases of local talent. Whether you follow us on social media, receive our newsletter, or get an event calendar in the mail, Nicole makes sure you can’t miss it.

However, this season we are looking to make visible the largely invisible work that we do here in our neighborhood: MSA’s free youth programming!

  • Club MSA: Arts After School classes, which are designed to serve a wide range of ages and abilities with options for both students who regularly attend and drop-in students
  • A partnership with our local elementary school, which empowers students in grades PK-5 to select three visiting artists each year for in-school performances and workshops
  • Our flagship RAD! (Reading! Art! Dance!) Summer Youth Program, which provides families with a free all-day summer program featuring arts-based literacy activities, bookmobile visits, field trips, and visiting artists, plus healthy lunches and snacks

Our youth programs are designed to create a safe, welcoming space that encourages students to take risks and build meaningful relationships with the artists, staff, and each other.

We are proud to conduct free year-round programming for neighborhood youths, but the cost of doing this work is significant. All combined, our community programs account for roughly half of our annual budget and they do not earn any income. We rely on the generosity of individuals like you to continue to uplift some of Maine’s most under-resourced students here in Kennedy Park with the confidence, skills, and life experience to succeed.

We have the goal of raising $55,000 by the end of 2023 and your contribution is vital to our ability to reach that goal. Please consider making a donation to Mayo Street Arts this holiday season at a level that is meaningful to you.

Thank you for being a part of our community!

Executive Director
