Johnathan Cook: VOROISM

May-July 2011

"Trash Canvas"

Voroism is a societal self-portrait that aims to refocus the collective averted gaze by recontextualizing the scrambled refuse of consumer culture. This exhibition presents work that utilizes the most ubiquitous and mundane materials to create compositions that are beautifully antagonistic. It forces the viewer look at that which is overlooked, and in doing so gain a new perspective on everything else.
