The Childrens Puppet Workshop is an arts and humanities workshop for East Bayside Youths with an emphasis on world folklore. Youths write their own scripts and make their own puppets based on the scripts they write. The ten-week program focuses on reading, writing, and building puppets, culminating in a community performance and month-long gallery exhibit. The exhibit is promoted as part of the First Friday Artwalk event. Youths are recommended for the workshop through the Kennedy Park Tenant Council and the Portland Community Policing Center. This program has had past sponsorship in part from Maine Community Foundation,  the Maine Arts Commission, and the Maine Humanities Council.

A statewide organization with offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation partners with donors and nonprofits to strengthen Maine communities. For more information, visit www.mainecf.org or call 1-877-700-6800.
